Key Concepts

One sample model, many worlds. A Sample can be a drill core, a belt cut, a process stream, an oil drain, a coolant draw or a dust filter — the same lifecycle (requested → collected → in transit → received → prepared → tested → reviewed → approved → reported → retained → disposed) covers the production laboratory and the condition-monitoring laboratory alike. Context fields capture what matters per world: drillhole interval and tonnes represented for geology; SMU hours, fluid age and operating state for condition monitoring.

Chain of custody is first-class. Dispatch and receipt are recorded with seals, couriers, per-sample condition and discrepancies — a late or seal-broken sample is accepted (or rejected) explicitly, and problems raise nonconformances.

Results earn their status. An analytical result moves entered → validated → approved, and the batch's QC decides whether it stands: certified reference materials must land inside acceptance limits, duplicates inside RPD tolerance, and control chart points inside control limits. A QC failure holds the batch's approvals and raises a nonconformance.

From ppm to work order. Condition-monitoring results become condition assessments (NORMAL → MONITOR → CAUTION → ALARM → CRITICAL) with indicator trends against baselines. Assessments produce typed recommendations (resample, change fluid, plan repair, immediate shutdown…) which raise maintenance notifications and work orders against the asset and component — closing the loop between the laboratory bench and the maintenance planner.

Accreditation-shaped governance. Test methods carry references, revisions, detection limits and links to controlled documents; equipment carries calibration records with certificates; analysts carry competencies with expiry; reports are approval-controlled and revision-tracked; nonconformances drive corrective actions with effectiveness verification; audits record findings against requirements. The structures mirror what an ISO 17025 assessor asks to see.
